JENNIFER STILLWELL

Propeller (2004)

Materials: acrylic house paint, 2X6 boards, box fans, power cord | Dimensions: Variable

Process: The artist dipped a series of boards into two lines of paint trays, waiting for each layer to dry before dipping each board into the next. The fans move from very fast to very slow as they catch the wake of the one plugged in.  The wake of the ‘propeller’ can be imagined as hitting the edges of the series of boards.  In that way, the forms can evoke a boat propeller and a dock.
